Homegrown 2015 information from the Hertz Wellington car hire team banner

The Jim Beam Homegrown concert will be held on March 7, 2015. Now a staple event on Wellington’s waterfront, it promises to bring the city alive with a wealth of Kiwi talent. There are 57 acts lined up, set to perform across a total of 7 stages along the harbour, including one new stage. Top billers include blockbuster acts Kora, Shapeshifter, Katchafire, Six60, Blacklist, Shihad, I Am Giant, David Dallas, Concord Dawn and Tiki Taane, to name just a handful. The variety of genres is remarkable, from rock to roots, dub to R&B and pop. Sounds kick off at 1pm and finish around 11pm at night.

General admission tickets are available now for $109 plus booking fees. Note that anyone under 15 must be accompanied by a legal guardian (children under 5 are free). BYO is not allowed and there will be a liquor ban in place, but there will be a number of food options as well as bars at each Homegrown stage.

Concert goers will need to swap their tickets for wristbands upon entry, either at the Jervois Quay entrance to lower Frank Kitts Park or the Dub & Roots Stage entrance at Waitangi Park.

During Homegrown 2015 more areas of the Wellington waterfront will be opened up and more entertainment will be available to ticket holders around Lower Franks Kitts Park and the Te Papa promenade, including markets, cafes and bars, activities and amusement rides. There’s also stages with entertainment that is free to the general public.

If you are travelling from out of town to attend Homegrown 2015 with your Wellington car hire, you may be wondering where to stay. Accommodation is bound to fill up fast. Consider the Rydges, centrally located on Featherston St just minutes away from the Homegrown 2015 festival, with a mix of city and harbour outlooks, or the newly refurbished Hotel Ibis, also on Featherston St and just one block from the festival.

Further along, on The Terrace, other good options are the Novotel and Mercure. If you are looking for a serviced apartment option, Quest on the corner of Hunter St and Lambton Quay deserves consideration – it’s good for larger groups as all rooms have full kitchens, and most have a living room, dining area, and laundry facilities as well – just a couple of blocks from the waterfront and TSB Arena.
