From March 28-29, 2015 the ITU World Series comes to Auckland. Along with elite men’s and women’s races, there will be triathlon events open to everyone – a fun run (an easy two laps of a flat course), a swim and run, and a few different full triathlon races.

Weekend warriors can pick from the Standard, Sprint or Super Sprint distances, going it solo or teaming up with a group. After your race you can sit back and watch the pro athletes slog it out on the same course. Prize giving for all the triathlon events will take place in front of the Cloud at 11.30am on Sunday – just in time to catch all the Elite racing.

All races will take place in the heart of Auckland City; Queens Wharf will be the centre of the action, with a Sports & Lifestyle Expo held in the Cloud. The run course will have several aid stations, and all athletes and support crew will have the ability to book a massage service in the Cloud.

If you are travelling to Auckland for the 2015 world triathlon series, consider staying at the Copthorne or Mercure hotels, just a block or two away from Queen’s Wharf. There are also a number of apartments available downtown for those who need a little more space, such asHarbour Oaks or Quest.

If you arrive a few days early you can fit in some sightseeing as well as a little bit of training. Head out west to the Waitakere Ranges for some biking or running through the bush and forest, or a little closer to the city, try Mt Eden or One Tree Hill. For swimming, visit the newly revamped Tepid Baths in downtown Auckland, or take an ocean dip – Mission Bay and Kohimarama are nearby, or head over the North Shore to Takapuna Beach or Long Bay.

If you’re bringing your Auckland Airport car rental to the event, try the Fanshawe St car parkor the Downtown car park on Customs Street West (with all day Sunday parking rates). Leave sufficient time to get to Queens Wharf. All bikes need to be placed into the bike rack (allocated spots) on Saturday in anticipation of Sunday’s race. On Sunday, arrive early for registration and getting ready.
