Waimarino
Tauranga’s premier kayaking and recreational destination since 1975, these guys have been in the business of wet and wild fun for a long time. There is much to do here, and Waimarino are adding to the attractions all the time. Try the Water Trampoline, or scale up the climbing walls. There’s pedal boats, diving boards, swimming pools, a slip and slide and New Zealand’s only kayak slide adventure. There’s simply no end to the amount of fun you can have here.
Guided Footprints Mt Drury Walk
You’re invited to “find yourself and lose yourself” on these amazing adventure walks, suitable for all ages and all fitness levels. With a focus on Māori culture and history and a strong conservationist theme, the expert guides will share their love of these beautiful surroundings with you. You’ll learn things and come away refreshed and recharged after experiencing these amazing sights and experiences.
Adrenalin Forest
If you like your nature explorations to have a bit of excitement, then this is just the ticket. There’s over 100 fun filled challenges across six levels here, starting easy and getting harder as you go. If you complete the whole course you will be climbing, jumping and swinging at least twenty meters up in the air. Thanks to the innovative gear on hand, you’ll be safe the whole time, but you might have a hard time convincing yourself of that as you take the leap. You can hire a GoPro camera to capture your adventures, so you’ll have a souvenir and proof of your bravery.
King Tide Salt Fly
If you have a fishing fanatic in the family this will be a dream come true – the area around Tauranga offers some fantastic opportunities to enjoy fly fishing in a saltwater environment – usually only the province of freshwater environs. “King Tide” is the name of the specially equipped boat you’ll be travelling in to reach the best spots. Experience a unique sport and bring home something tasty for dinner as well, if you’re lucky.
