Flying across the Tasman and landing at Sydney Airport is always an exciting experience. You have the opportunity to spot such Sydney icons as Bondi Beach, the Opera House, and even the Harbour Bridge. Once you get off the plane, arrivals can be a stressful experience; but what doesn’t have to be stressful is selecting your rental car from Hertz Sydney Airport.
Having a car at your disposal while in Sydney is recommended, as it is a sprawling city with many sights worth visiting all over the place. From the northern beaches of Palm Beach, Curl Curl and Manly, to the eastern suburbs with Bronte and Bondi - you’ll want a car to get from surf to shore. Plus, there are ample experiences outside of the inner city itself, like the Blue Mountains, Royal National Park, and the towns of Newcastle and Wollongong. A rental car will allow you to see it all.
Explore Sydney from the Airport with Hertz
As soon as you’ve sorted out your rental car, it’s time to head off to the beach.
The beaches here in Sydney are very different to the ones in New Zealand. You won’t find black sand here, nor the wild and ruggedness of beaches like Piha, but instead long stretches of golden sand, normally filled with plenty of locals and tourists alike. Bondi Beach is the most famous of them all, but if you’d like something a bit more like home, we suggest you drive up the coast to beaches like Curl Curl and Chinaman’s Beach, where it’s a bit quieter, but still beautiful.
After the beach, it’s time to hit the town - and there’s plenty of variety there too! If you want something a bit artsy, then head to Newtown and the inner west suburbs. Surry Hills is great for foodies, with something entirely different on each street corner, while Potts Point is an excellent choice for those that are looking for something a little bit fancier.
No trip to Sydney should be complete without a visit to the harbour area. With the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and all the excitement that is normally found in this area of the city, it’s an experience quite unlike any other. So, drive over to the Quay, treat yourself to some dinner under the beautiful Opera House sails, and enjoy the Harbour in all its glory.
Drive out of Sydney in your Rental Car
There are a multitude of destinations outside of the city limits that you should pay a visit to while you’re on holiday in Sydney.
One trip we definitely recommend is the Hunter Valley. The Hunter Valley is the home of world-renowned produce, and the towns of Pokolbin and Cessnock are perfect to spend a day wandering through (or are potentially great spots for a holiday within a holiday). The Hunter produces some of the best wines in Australia, so it offers a great opportunity to compare Australian wine offerings with New Zealand’s. Of course, if you are tasting wines, make sure to do so safely, and always have a designated driver with your party.
There are many other beautiful destinations, all within a few hours’ drive of Sydney city. With the Blue Mountains to the west, the Hunter, Newcastle, and Port Stephens in the North, and then Wollongong and the Royal National Park in the South, you’ll have a jam-packed holiday filled with road trips and exciting destinations.
Whether you’re here to visit family and friends or playing tourist, Sydney is an exciting city to visit. Make the most of your trip here and hire a rental car from Hertz.
